What the hell does that really mean? In today’s busy world, we all fall prey to the temptation of “getting through the daily grind”. You rush along to do everything and don’t have the time to really live your life. We are constantly busy taking care of the children, getting the work done for our bosses and running to the grocery and post office. We finish dinner, put the laundry away, get ready for the game and run half-way to the next kids baseball game. The day is almost done. We have been moving steadily since 6:10 a.m. but feel empty inside. Thankful to have the luxury of a place to rest, to reflect, and to plan for tomorrow.

This does not sound healthy. What is the time for daydreaming, the time to go on a walk with the dog that’s grown up and to enjoy the beautiful flowers? These are simple things we should do for ourselves.

There is a dramatic increase in anxiety and panic disorders in our society. How come? There are two possible causes. One is true mental illness and the other is simply because we do not care about our mental health. It is something we often forget about when it concerns our health. A rash is something you report to your dermatologist. We do nothing as a society when we are overwhelmed or experiencing anxiety, which can lead to panic attacks. We ignore it until it gets really, truly bad. This is more that a silly thing. Relax and take some time to unwind. It is vital for your family.

What is your favourite thing to do? Is it meeting up with friends to go to the coffee shop or just hanging out? Do you fancy riding your bike on Lakefront? A good book or a good read can be a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Skiing, skydiving and painting that new picture that has been brewing in your mind for three long years. It will change your outlook and make you amazed at all that you can achieve. When my children were little, we used to go on “worm hunts” after the rain. My neighbor poked her head through the fence and said, ‘You know, that is the important stuff in this life. (Okay, my house was in a real mess at that point) But my neighbor wisely said to me: “Your children are only small for so many years.” Your entire life can be spent cleaning your house. To turn on the radio and dance during dinner, to grab the flashlights, go ghost hunting past bedtime, and to spend that precious hour sketching.

These new ideas led to two businesses, a happier family and a feeling that you accomplished something.
